The Giza Wall

Giza Break | 21.09.2002 10:21

Officials are claiming, in a move to protect the Giza plateau from "terrorists" and control the masses of tourists visiting the area, (?) a gargantuan 22 foot wall is being erected at the site.

The standard argument for the creation of such a wall is "crowd control", but the details of this new construction suggest an initiative that is both multi-purpose and grand scale: the wall near Nazlat al Salman will be, at a minimum, 7 meters (22 feet) high!

What are they hiding? This is world heritage conservation area, they have NO RIGHT to enclose it, or alter the Giza plateau in any way. This is the last remaining 'wonder of the ancient world' it belongs to all the people, not just Egypt.
