No Sweat (South London) | 20.09.2002 21:06
Stamp out Nikes Naked Greed at their "Run London "event in Richmond Park this Sunday....Kick sweatshops out of sport and everywhere else too with No Sweat, campaigning against sweatshops in the UK and worldwide. www.nosweat.org.uk ---------WE'D RATHER GO NAKED THAN WEAR SWEATSHOP !!!!!!
On Sunday 22 September Nike - the vast transnational that produces shoes and sportswear across the world using sweated labour - will hold its annual 'fun run' in Richmond Park, south west London.
Join all those protesting - such as the Royal Parks workers who called on the event to be cancelled as allowing it to go ahead clearly breaks the pledge that the Agency [that runs the royal parks in London] 'would only deal with companies which pursue clear ethical and green policies wherever it is practical to do so' (read the full letter from the union branch, and the crap get-out reply from their bosses on the No Sweat website at www.nosweat.org.uk ) - against sweatshop labour and the inroads into sport and education being made by privateers (with the money raised Nike will be donating sports equipment and clothing - all covered with its logo and advertising, obviously - to schools in working class areas of London).
WE'RE MEETING AT 9.00, SUNDAY MORNING, at Barnes rail station (trains from Waterloo or Clapham Junction). Trains from Waterloo take 17 minutes.
More information AND OUR CONTACT MOBILES ON THE DAY
