Boycott Holidays in Turkey

Tourism is a huge source of hard currency for the Turkish regime and it is one of the cheapest destinations for package sun holidays.
Encourage your friends and family not to go to Turkey.
Awareness can also be raised by giving out leaflets at travel agencies which sell Turkish holidays or by asking your local travel agent not to publicise holidays in Turkey.

More information on the holiday boycott here

When you are on holiday, or even just out of the country on a short trip, send a postcard to the Turkish Embassy (address above), saying you had considered going to Turkey until you heard about the hunger strikes and human rights abuses there.

International Human Rights Observers are needed

• OUR CALL UPON ALL PEOPLE WHO ARE HUMAN BEINGS •

At this moment, 20 death fast resisters in Istanbul, Kucukarmutlu are going on with their resistance.
Kucukarmutlu is a shantytown in Istanbul. Police are preparing themselves to attack. If they do that, there will be a new massacre, this time not in prisons, but outside.

We are calling upon all people over all Europe and world, to go to Kucukarmutlu to support and protect them. When you are there, the police will not be able to attack on the resisters in front of the eyes of the whole world.

It is not a plea, but a cry:
GO AND SUPPORT THEM. YOU ARE ABLE TO PROTECT THEM.

For more information on how to become and observer or go on a delegation to Turkey please contact  ikm_london@yahoo.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let us increase the numbers of the TAYAD Committee

We are calling upon all sympathetic people in Europe to join the TAYAD Committee.

For the last 300 days our Death Fast resistance has been taking place in Turkey by the prisoners in the prisons and by the TAYAD members outside of the prisons. The struggle on our soil has increased and expanded during the last 300 days. Now there should be resistance voices in Europe as well.

All parents We are calling you to support the children and the parents of the martyrs. We should all take part in this struggle we should all feel hunger. We should represent their voices in Europe.

In this struggle every one of us can do something. We are calling you to take part in the TAYAD Committee.

- Make a phone call to those who are resisting
- Send a small present to the resisters
- Tell your children about Mrs. Gulsuman and Mrs. Senay who died on Death Fast and send a postcard to their children. Donate some money for their education.
- Write leaflets about them; collect newspaper articles that mention them to show to others.
- Call the Minister of Justice, the Turkish embassy in your country, human rights organisations and parliament and ask them why people have been dying and what is more important than human life.

Access the internet and look at the martyrs faces and read their messages. Think about what they said and what gave them the strength to carry out this struggle.

With your relatives and friends go on hunger strike and contact TAYAD to tell them you have done this. When your call the embassies or the press tell them that you are on hunger strike in support of the prisoners in Turkey and put pressure on them to accept the prisoners demands.

Every day before leaving home phone the Minister of Justice and tell him to start negotiations with the prisoners and to except their demands.

Call human rights organisations and ask them why they have not gone to the Armutlu shantytown in Istanbul which is under police blockade and where five TAYAD members have died on Death Fast.

Call political parties who consider themselves left or democratic and ask them what are they doing about this struggle and why are they not a part of it.

Call the Interior Minister and ask him why he sent the police into Armutlu instead of taking care of the real enemies in the country.

Join the marches and visit the hunger strike tents through out Europe.

Put black flags up in your car and house.

At night turn your lights on and off for ten minutes at night and encourage your neighbours to do the same.

You can go into your city centres and do candle light vigils and tell people to put pressure on their governments to stop supporting the F-type isolation cell prisons in Turkey.

If you can play a musical instrument then you can perform songs in support of the resistance and collect money for the resisters.

Perform a play about the isolation cells and tell people about those who have died in them.

Lawyers, journalists, MPs go to Armutlu in Istanbul and tell the police to lift their blockade.

Muslims, Christians, Jews people of all religions pray for the people who are struggling against oppression. The old, young, men, women those who are bravely sacrificing their lives for the liberation of their country.

Children draw a picture for the children who have lost their parents through the Death Fast and send the picture to them.

Youth! Hear the call of those who are resisting who are of a similar age to you. They are giving their lives for the people. Display pictures of the youth that have died at your schools and colleges. Translate their ideas into other languages; create internet sites for them.

Those who are opposed to globalisation and who campaign for the environment arrange a delegation to go to Turkey. One of the biggest anti-imperialist, anti-globalisation, anti-IMF struggles is taking place in Turkey today. Go there and see it for yourselves and pass on your experiences to others. Show your international solidarity just like Ernesto CHE Guevara.

Take the pictures of our martyrs and hang them on your walls. Ask yourselves why are so many people dying in Turkey.

Stay indoors one day and stay hungry and ask yourselves what the resisters are feeling. Imagine that you are one of them or you are a relative, a child or a parent.

Take part in this event, be part of the writing of history.

Phone to TAYAD and the TAYAD Committees, speak to the resisters in the resistance houses. Hear their determination it will effect you to hear their voices. It will remind you what humanity is even in Europe’s degenerated rotten living conditions.

They are the future of your children; they are our hope they are the ones who will save this planet which was made dirty.

20th October 2001 will be the first anniversary of this struggle. We are calling every one to increase the level of activity and to expand the committees, to show your solidarity and support in Europe.
