INVITATION FOR THE CREATION OF A COORDINATIVE PLATFORM FOR SALONICA (Thessaloniki) 2003

INVITATION FOR THE CREATION OF A COORDINATIVE PLATFORM FOR SALONICA (Thessaloniki) 2003

After a call to the anti-authoritarian groups of Thessaloniki and North Greece by the Initiative of Thessaloniki's Anarchists, the prospect and the necessity for the creation of a coordinative platform of anarchists and anti-authoritarians was discussed on the 6th and 7th of July. This platform will extend its action not only until the EU summit in Thessaloniki on June 2003, but also during the days of the summit and in the following period.

The importance of the circumstances related to the EU summit as much as the involvement in the formation of an anti-authoritarian, anarchist and libertarian block requires coordinated action. This was a common conclusion and it should be highlighted that it would be considered as a fact and a common base from now on and not as a matter of further discussion.

The outcome of the meeting was to set up some crucial questions, which should be answered by the participants in order to make clear who, in what degree and under which terms, will express interest in the direction of the creation of such a coordinative platform.

The questions, which were set up, are the following:

1) Necessity of coordinated action

2) Determination of subjects, on which there is a need for coordination and organisation before, during and after the EU summit

3) Minimum terms of a political declaration for the co-existence and coordination of the interested individuals and groups

4) Conditions for maintaining the autonomy of groups

5) The function of the platform between individuals and groups (procedures and practical issues)

The date of the coming meeting is the first weekend of October (05 - 06/10/02) and suggested place is Thessaloniki. Answers, propositions and further information can be sent to the following e-mail:

Individuals and groups from Northern Greece and Thessaloniki agreed for the composition of this text.

This invitation will be sent to anti-authoritarian groups in Greece and other countries, with the only condition that there is no public declaration from them in favor of abstaining from the protests against the EU summit. In the case that either we forgot or we didn't know of the existence of any group we apologise and we ask you to forward this invitation.
