"awful truth" mike moore excels on BBC "question time"

so what ? | 13.09.2002 13:07

there are of course two mike moores, ironically one running capitalism, and the other a stern critic thereof

the latter was in tip- top form last night on BBC's "question time". mike moore is a film-maker and TV presenter, best known in GB for his recent series "the awful truth", and he used his chance on the BBC's prime talking- shop to dispell many of the myths surrounding the impending war drive. You name it, he dispelled it ! In one go, he said all the things last night that the trades unions manifestly DIDNT say to Leader Blair during his speech to the TUC. While the big-mouth unions suddenly became the still voice of calm, last night mike moore spoke up; the other panellists, being assorted USA politicians and luminaries, harangued him and interuppted; even the chairman dimbelby was unable to control them at times, but moore kept going. bizarrely, (in a new variation of the old "go to Russia if socialism's so good ") one cheecky chap from England even told him to leave America and go and live in the middle- east ! moore pointed out that his first duty as an American was to criticise his government.
well played to mike moore, who didnt keep quiet.

ps. i happened to make a video recording of the show. if anyone really wants it, please nag me and i might let you have it.

so what ?

My dear 'so what', thank you for your posting and your kind offer, I would be delighted to take you up on it, as it seems unlikely that any program that reveals any kind of truth or actual 'man on the street' opinion, will be repeated, and since I was drowning my sorrows all last night after adolf bush gave us the benefit of his wisdom and understanding (and after that dismal two seconds went on to deliver a rather nasty bully boy speech).
The program sounds like exactly the sort of thing to counter my low blood pressure, and besides there is nothing I like more than seeing a good person vilified by facists - it brings out the martyr/masochist in me ...
So please contact me at the email ad. above and we're see if it is possible to arrange.

Moore on form

13.09.2002 14:07

When it was pointed out by Mr. Moore, we are going to bomb Iraq for chemical weapons we gave them, the former NY Mayor, said, "that doesn't matter." !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leaders are starting to show their true colours (blood-red) and motives. Kofi Annan, said "Iraq is threatening the 'World Order.' Nelson Mandela says "America is threatening World Peace."

If we can invade countries that may be trying to obtain nuclear weapons and might use them one day, if they can acquire fission material, then that is every nation, that doesn't presently have them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A tyrant with weapons of mass destruction, has vowed to rid the world of tyrants with weapons of mass destruction. So that will leave only one tyrant - George Skull & Bones Bush.

God help us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike was excellent and exposed the right-wing guests as the vile, blood-thirsty cretins they are.

MIKE FOR PRESIDENT!

A rare glimmer of reality

When I heard Question Time was in New York I groaned, expecting another propaganda onslaught. Seeing Mike Moore in the credits I thought AHA!, this may be worth watching. And it was.

Even more delightful was the audience response to what he said. They were very supportive, and much less so of the other, war-mongering guests. His books sell very well in the States, and it' always good to be reminded that not all Americans think like the smirking chimp in the Whitehouse.

In view of the evident anti-war/Bush audience response I wonder if they will issue an apology, like after QT following 911 which the BBC removed from their website and from the historical record.

Also excellent, for you dopefiends and fans of twisted journalism, is Hunter S. Thompson, who, despite the ravages of time and narcotics launches into a searing attack of the US since last September. If you have realplayer he's at -

Absolutely

Mike Moore said some home truths, very directly and persistently, and there was nothing any of the lizardy republicans could say that had the same ring of truth. Everyone in the studio and everyone watching knew it. Inspiring stuff.

to a radical library in London where it may be kept safe for thinking people, perhaps looked at in years to come as an example of the Zeitgeist of 2002. thanks for the interest.
