ANTICAPITALIST BLOC LEAFLET: DOWNLOAD + PRINT!
antiwar | 12.09.2002 18:27
Please print out this flyer and distribute - especially if you're coming down to the demo on a Stop the War Coalition coach or train - that'd be the ideal time to give them out!
Another good idea is to give them out on the street/at gigs/on demos with the StWC flyer, available from http://www.stopwar.org.uk
This demo will be massive - the anticapitalist bloc could be, too...

Let's go for it!

1) The need to show the connection between war and capitalism.
2) The need to show that the 'anti-capitalist movement' didn't die after September 11th (even anyone ever believed this media lie in the first place!).
3) The need to show a dis-concence between 'our bloc' and fundamentalist religions, political parties, the trade union leaderships and other would-be leaders of the 'anti-war movement'.
However, perhaps the most important reason for having this bloc is our shared belief that "Only direct action can stop the war." We are not asking for our representatives in parliament to change their foreign policy, and we are certainly not asking for the bombing campaigns to be neatly backaged as a humanitarian crusade by the United Nations. We are taking to the streets to try to stop the war OURSELVES.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO TAKE 'DIRECT ACTION' TO START PLANNING WHAT TO DO NOW!
All too often the responsibility for organising is left to others. Here's a few things we can all do.
1) Talk to our friends, neighbours, family, affinity group about the demo and the anti-capitalist bloc. Work out which of you will be going there and decide if you want to stick together on the day.
2) Once you know who you are going to go to the 'bloc' with decide what YOU think would be a good thing to happen and start organising.
3) Plan ideas for actions... look at maps, phone books etc... for ideas of 'targets'. The Campaign Against Arms Trade web site, or the Corporate Watch website (www.corporatewatch.org) might have some ideas, or try using internet search engines to find specific information.
4) Decide what you need to bring with with you well in advance and 'be prepared'!
5) On the day stick with your friends, look out for one another and have fun!
Excited!
