FALSE ANTI-SEMITISM ALLEGATIONS: AKDH DEFEATED!

District attorneyship of Zurich, Switzerland, decided for suspension of legal charges by Aktion Kinder des Holocaust against Independent Media Center for publishing "We are all Palestinians" cartoon series, where a Warsaw Ghetto-era boy is depicted saying "I am Palestinian". According AKdH's spokesman, Samuel Althof, cartoon is "anti-Semitic" and "stands for the extermination of the Jewish people and the State of Israel."

Author, Brazilian cartoonist Latuff, published on IMC Switerland and around the Web a cartoon series in order to promote International Campaign for Justice for the Victims of Sabra & Shatila, comparing the suffering of Palestinians to various oppressed people in history.

In the official judgement it reads: "Even if the observer is emotionally biased against the Jewish people with this (cartoon), not the Jewish people as such is being criticized, but their political behavior toward the Palestinians. The issue is not a certain characterization of the Jews, but their procedure in the current conflict. The constitutional equality of the Jews as human beings is thereby not denied." (p 2/paragraph 1.2.)

It represents a small but important victory against repeated false allegations of anti-Semitism raised by some individuals, groups and mainstream, everytime Israel is criticized by its criminal policy towards Palestinians.

Again, cartoonist Latuff wishes to underline that his artworks focuses exclusively State of Israel and Ariel Sharon while political entities, having nothing to do with the whole Jewish People, their traditions and beliefs, race or religion. Palestinian people deserve the same rights as Israelis for sovereignty.

We won a battle, but war is not over. Let's keep fighting for the end of occupation, right of return for Palestinian refugees and a Palestinian Independent State.
