Ann oyed | 28.08.2002 21:43

ON www.indymedia.org there is an excellent feature on is "Blair's junket to Rio + 10"-- why is this not a feature on uk.indymedia.org? Why are we stuck with titmarsh woods?

I agree

29.08.2002 10:55

I agree, but then I was only the author!

 http://uk.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=39258&group=webcast

It was picked up by SchNEWS (last week) and is in the current issue of Private Eye.

 http://www.schnews.org.uk/archive/news369.htm

More interesting is why has it not been picked up by the mainstream media?

Why no feature?

29.08.2002 11:05

The IMC editorial collective generally takes stories from the newswire and turns them into features if someone proposes it.

To my knowledge no stories about the WSSD have been posted to the newswire - and until they are it is unlikely that there'll be a feature.

IMC is not about an elite team writing stories for the readers, it's about participation in the media. If you want a feature about the WSSD, write one and publish it on the newswire. This would be very valuable, so if you've got time please do it.

Don't hate the media, be the media!

Urgh!

The story IS about the World Summit on Sustainable Destruction in Jo'burg.

It is posted on UK, Indymedia, SA, and Climate.

We are planning to publish a feature on WSSD after the summit ends on 4 September. Although it will be primarily about the effects of the decision on Swaziland, you are welcome to use it for your features page.

I apologise - I had not seen your article.

If you think your piece would make a good feature, you can email it to  imc-uk-features@lists.indymedia.org where the collective can see it in case it has been missed.

But thanks!

WAR! Heurgh! good dog now

29.08.2002 12:02

At the risk of banging on and on about the same thing, could we PLEASE have something about the upcoming Iraq war on the main page ?
Demo: 29/9, central London
Slaughter: Nov this year (apparently)
All we need is a few links & transport details for the big march.
I'd do it but I'm really shy.
Cheers

Yes feature on Iraq War please

29.08.2002 14:09

Just as www.indymedia.org has that excellent feature (thank you Keith?) on the Blair Eco-Junket team which for some reason was not made a feature on uk.indymedia.org

so www.indymedia.org has an excellent feature on the Iraq War issue (which usefully demolishes many of the myths about 'weapons of mass destruction')-- why not just repost the feature on uk.indymedia.org: WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THE SEPTEMBER DEMO WHICH WE HAVE TO MAKE BIG!

All news is not equal in importance. If that London demo in September is a flop that will be the clearest sign to the Bush-Blair pushmepullyou that it can just steam right ahead.
