A few reports and a couple of things coming up plus a message from
Indonesian strikers:
Come Join the Nike 10k Fun Run:
If you live in the London, you may have noticed all the big yellow Nike
posters appearing all over the smoke challenging cab drivers and pizza
delivery boys to Just Do It - run int he Nike fun run (you may also have
noticed some giant No to Nike Naked Greed posters appearing on them).
Well we have a challenge of our own for Nike - pay decent wages, ensure
safe, healthy working conditions and insist on free trade unions being
organised in facotries you use - go on, Just Do It!
If you want to help us out, come along to Richmond Park on Sep 22. We
think it willl be a lot of fun. There wil be plenty of preparation work
going on so get in touch to volunteer.

More info from slondon@nosweat.org.uk
Volunteers Days:
We want to make Thursdays volunteers days. basically we can't cope with
the amount of work we have - organising for our forthcoming conference
on Nov 23 in London, sorting out getting people to Florence and running
a meeting at the Europen Social Forum there, replying to enquiries,
organising protests.....
If you can make it to South London on a Thursday email
admin@nosweat.org.uk and volunteer yourself.
No Sweat Football Pix available / Indonesia Campaign Latest:
Anyone who helped raise approximately 900 pounds for No Sweat and the
Indonesian FNPBI union at the 5 a side tournament at Fulham the other
week can see embarrassing photos of themselves at:
http://4glengate.net/modules/Gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album09
We also have some other hard copies if you are that desperate.
Along with this, 80 quid was raised at the Active Slaughter, Left for
Dead... gig in Tottenham last week and nearly 400 raised after the
Commonwealth Games demo in Manchester. Helen raised a hundred odd by
running an unhealthy sounding distance and a couple of union branches in
London voted to send 50 pounds each recently. This takes the total to
over 4 thousand pounds now. An accurate fuigure will be up on the
website soon. There is also a messge that was pasted up there a few
weeks ago giving an idea of what this money can buy - it really is going
to make a huge difference to their ability to organise and publicise
their work.
Big thanks to all the bands, comedians, unions, football clubs,
activists who have given their time for free and got those cash tins
rattling.
Nike and Price Waterhouse Coopers Pickets:
No Sweat joined the GMB London Region and raided Niketown dressed as the
fashion police, complete with a judge who found the bastards guilty as
charged. Nike didn't like it much but we enjoyed ourselves. We even
cracked the bourgeois media with an interview on BBC London Radio and a
piccy in the Guardian. The New York Times even came to say howdy.
Just three days later we were outside PWC, who have been cutting staff
wages and handing out bosses bonuses - sound familiar? They also advise
the government and councils on privatisation schemes, always recomending
flogging the services off and often turning up on the consortia that get
the deal! When they're not doing that they are monitoring codes of
conduct for Nike and others. Doing such a fine job that workers
continue to be forced to work overtime, still get paid poverty wages,
are subject to sexual abuse and get attacked if they try to form a
union.
omplete with our very own Artful Dodger we sang "You've gotta pick a
pocket or two" and warned passers by that corporate pickpockets were
operating in the area. You can check the story out in publications
including the Morning Star and Accountancy Weekly!
