The attitude of the New Testament authors toward the Jews is very clear.

Matthew | 12.08.2002 14:59

A declaration that the Jews are the children of the devil (John 8:44) and that the Jews are a "synagogue of Satan"

It starts in Genesis and is stated clearly in Genesis 3:15 where Yahweh tells Satan, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed." The same Hebrew word zerah, meaning seed or descendant, is used in both places. So the Bible says that Satan is to have just as literal children as Eve. In John 8:44 Yahshua identified these children of Satan as the Jews.
Question: Is it true that the New Testament criticism of the Jews is quite mild?

Answer: The New Testament contains more than just a mild criticism of the Jews. In fact, it is extremely anti-Jewish. It is true that some Christians maintain that the New Testament attack on the Jews is quite mild. Yet, how mild is the "bloody commission," a statement that places upon the Jews guilt for all the righteous blood ever shed upon the earth (Matthew 23:35), or a spurious self-condemnation whereby the Jewish people supposedly take upon themselves and their offspring an eternal blame for the death of Jesus (Matthew 27:25), or a declaration that the Jews are the children of the devil (John 8:44) and that the Jews are a "synagogue of Satan" (Revelation 2:9, 3:9). Paul summed up the denunciation of the Jews with the inflammatory declaration that the Jews are "hostile to all men" (1 Thessalonians 2:15).
The attitude of the New Testament authors toward the Jews is very clear.

This is racist

Look, I don't like what Israel's leaders, in the name of Judaism, are doing to the Palestinians, but that is not an excuse for racism or ethnophobia sanctioned by another interpretation of a very ambiguous, contradictory and shallow document. We've had enough of that, surely.

Get rid of this racist shit now!

Indymedia is not for this racist religious shit!
This is an anti-capitalist newswire.
Fuck off!

indymedia friend

if this is true..

12.08.2002 18:32

then we should know. doesn't mean we are racists, nor that the person telling us (necessarily) is.
I haven't read the whole bible myself, in fact I keep away from all organised religion really.
but I am interested in what fundamentalist christians think, especially since there's a bunch of them in the white house and they seem to be trying to get all the jews back to israel because only then, according to the bible, will jesus come back. it's all crazy shit but worth knowing a little about given the implications for countless innocent people, and lest we believe the hype that the dangerous religious zealots are all hindu, moslem or jewish...
cheers

Not news - should be removed

This thread is not news. It should not be on the newswire.
If you feel like quoting bible stuff and spouting your opinion about life the universe and everything then there are loads of places you are free to do so. BUT NOT HERE.

Please respect the newswire.

(PS. Is this an anti-capitalist newswire? I didn't realise. I thought this was an open publishing alternative to the mainstream... ;-)
