STOP ESSO

Marxist_Mike | 07.08.2002 17:04

JOIN THE CAMPAIGN!

Esso doesn't give a damn about global warming.

It's doing more than any oil company to sabotage international action on global warming. Thousands of people boycott Esso.

The whole point of this thread was to alert people to the Stop ESSO campaign, not educate them on the implications of ESSO, but a link on its own would have looked a bit crap.

Cheers.

Why Just ESSO ?

What is so special about ESSO, the Oil Companies are all as bad as each other. SHELL, EXXON, MOBIL, ELF , ENI/AGIP.
Whats the difference ? They are all responsible for devesating the planet .....

Adverts

It's called an advert!

The newswire is for news.

If you feel the need to plug a campaign on Indymedia that has been running for well over a year then you could at least find some 'news' to dress up your advert.

There is no doubt plenty of news on the issue of climate change that you could have used. Or you could have gone out and done something for the campaign to create a little news and do something useful at the same time.

I don't mean to sound angry but I waste so much time trying to sort out crap on the newswire to find out what is going on. So much stuff is just comment, opinion and ADVERTS!

PLEASE respect the remit of this service.

If you seriously have a problem with the stuff on the newswire I suggest you e-mail the people involved in the IMC by clicking the "contact" link on the left hand column. Whilst I agree that there is a lot of bullshit being posted on the IMC-UK newswire at the moment, however one man's bullshit may be another man's news, and if such stuff was to be hidden, the IMC would very soon be innudate with complaints accusing them of censorship. At the same time, isn't the newswire for "up to the minute coverage of protests, actions and demonstrations", and such event need to be "advertised"? Although the recent ramblings about the SWP, and the conspiricy nuts with their "chemtrails" and various Freemason/Illuminanti/New World Order conspiricies and other crap is far from what the newswire is meant to be about. I used to be for a 100% uncensored newswire, but after seeing article upon article of bull, I would go from the bull being "hidden", so the relevant stuff isn't watered down by this. Some may cry out censorship, but if there was a link on the front page to the "hidden" articles it may allay the fears of these people whist having a newswire that actually gives out news again.
