About 300 hospital workers at Glasgow's Royal Infirmary went on their second three day strike this morning.

Over 100 pickets made sure that every one of this large hospital's 15 entrances were covered and were able to turn back many non-essential deliveries.

The strikers are all employed by the French multinational Sohdexo since NHS services were contracted out. The strikers are demanding a £5/hour mimimum wage and a return to NHS conditions on holidays and sick pay for all workers.

About 7am management managed to bus in some 15 scabs, but this is nowhere near enough to cover the strikers' duties.

The mood on the picket line was boyant with the strikers determined to win concessions from Sohdexo, whose top bosses earn up to £183/hour.
