THE REGENERATION RIP OFF!

Mike Lane | 30.07.2002 09:11

The regeneration RIP OFF in Liverpool carries on unhindered. The Liverpool City Council, helped by the OLD BOY BRIGADE, all Freemasons of course, makes preposterous decisions. If their not putting our money into the pockets of property developers, they are putting it into the pockets of useless consultancy companies which are being run in many cases by ex council officers.

The Liverpool City Council and the OLD BOYS BRIGADE are up to their old tricks again. Looks like senior officer for regeneration Charlie Parker, who only earns £110,000 per year and his illustrious chief exec, along with full backing by the ten Lib-Dem executive councillors, have given the go ahead to another regeneration money grabbing private sector entity. The Liverpool Echo, one of the most illusion creating local newspapers in the country, owned, of course, by Trinity, sings praises to what these incompetent council officers are up to. (Remember the Echo works to the analogy of: Nothing must be said or done that can harm the long-term existence of regeneration funding on Merseyside).

Have you been to Liverpool recently and seen the state of our roadways, especially the city centre. Millions of kerbstones are filthy and broken. The city centre is in a dreadful state, with stinking drains and filthy walkways. But what does our city council and the media do? They sing praises to the city council, obviously to create the proverbial false impression that everything is wonderful. They have even put in a bid to be the European capital of culture, what a joke.

Millions of pounds will be generated, they claim, but the long-suffering people of Liverpool and Merseyside will state, as they always do. “We’ve heard it all before”. Because, sadly the incompetents in the city council are always up to something that always amounts to nothing and eventually results in millions of pounds of public funding and European Objective One funding being wasted. But still, it matters little, because the city council will inevitably use the “LEARNING CURVE” excuse when it all goes wrong and move on, unhindered, to their next pet project and make a mess of that.
