Rabbi pronounces religious 'fatwa' against IDF-Refuseniks

A radical West-Bank Rabbi, Shlomo Aviner, has publicly justified his call for IDF-Refusniks to be killed. This reminds very much of the religious death- warrant or 'fatwa' issued by top Iranian Mullahs against Salman Rushdie.

This incitement will be sweet music to the ears of other well-armed religious fanatics and will almost certainly be the religious dung upon which future acts of lawless vigilanteism against the heroic Refuseniks will now grow.

Does anyone remember the Rabin- assassin? He was inspired by just such whack-job lunacy as this!

Due to the fact that it survived several hours of exposure to the Mod's beady glare, I rashly began to believe that maybe there could be some decency left in them after all !?!

But no worries - after posting a translation to German as a comment on the same page, the whole thing disappeared about ten minutes later.

Religion , religion , when is humanity going to rid itself of this vile contaminant.All religions sooner or later lead indoctrinated peoples to commit atrocities against each other.If only people could open their minds and become educated and better informed , then all religious groups would eventually fade and die.Religion as seen through the ages , only leads to faction and blind obediance to a fictional omnipotent entity which is used by political elites to control humanities minds.This in turn leads only to one destination the KILLING FIELDS of Palestine or any other region of the earth where the religious are ready to butcher one another.Religion only leads sooner or later to one place a trench full of blood.

People have thoughout history have fought and killed people "in the name of God". Examples include Biblical wars against the Philistines and Midianites, the Spanish Inquisition, the Holocaust, the Crusades, and more recent examples include Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, and the Arab/Israeli conflicts, which have blighted the region since the late 60s. It is more than time people grew up and realised that we are all the same inside, although sadly it will probably take another century of bloodshed for people to realise this. I can only live in hope...
