Lots of radical, subversive and alternative films being shown this week in Manchester.

WEDNESDAY 24TH JULY - THE GREEN ROOM - 8-12pm
The Yeast Collective / Panjit G (Asian Dub Foundation) present an experimental and radically political film slot, projecting visuals, showing music videos (installations - Nitin Sawhney). At 9PM i-Contact Video Network, Bristol present an hour of the best radical alternative media. consisting of short, subversive and entertaining films from various places and groups including: British army on LSD, Guerrilla News Network, Subversive and The Nuclear Family.

THURSDAY 25TH JULY - THE GREAT NORTHERN - 5-8pm
Beyondtv.org present 3 hours of radical and political films. Film makers from Undercurrents, Conscious Cinema and i-Contact will be present to talk about their films.

IN THE LAND OF SHATTERED ILLUSIONS (2 Mins)

THE WAR WITHIN (33 Mins)

BOOM AND BUST (3.5 Mins)
Bristol born graffiti artist Banksy talks about what he does and why he does it (Squall).
GLOBALISATION AND THE MEDIA (20 Mins)
Explores the role of the media in this corporate led take over of the Planet’s natural resources (Undercurrents Productions).
TAKING BACK THE LAND (3.5 Mins)
Brazil's Movement of the Landless has resettled 350,000 homeless families on unused land, despite facing violence from the government and big landowners (Conscious Cinema).
SUITS AND SAVAGES (40 Mins)
The World Bank tries to do conservation; so wildlife and people lose out to money. This film travels between a remote tribe in India and another, more powerful, in Washington (Conscious Cinema).
BILLBOARD (3.5 Mins)
How people subverise, or correct, billboards and the reasons behind it (I-Contact).
NOT THIS TIME - THE STORY OF THE SIMON JONES MEMORIAL CAMPAIGN (2002 UPDATE) (23 Mins)
The story of the campaign against casualisation started as a result of a young man being decapitated on his first day of work in a dockyard (Conscious Cinema).

FRIDAY 26TH JULY - THE GREAT NORTHERN - 5-8pm
NON VIOLENCE FOR A CHANGE (25 Mins) What is nonviolence? How do we measure effectiveness? What about democracy? Is property damage violent? Should all direct action be nonviolent? (Just-Us Productions)
REFUGEES IN THE UNDERGROUND (60 Mins)

Follows disaffected youth in a north Manchester housing estate (poorest estate in the country) (Andy Lawrence)
THE THOMPSONS (30 Mins)
Multi Award winning intriguing and entertaining film about a protestant family in Northern Ireland (Andy Lawrence).
THE BRIDGE BETWEEN US (20 Mins)
parading issues and police brutality in Belfast.
CROWD BITES WOLF (20 Mins)
The World Bank and IMF scuttle of to Prague, but an international army of insurrection is waiting (Guerillavision).

SATURDAY 27TH JULY - THE GREEN ROOM - 8PM-2AM
Psychic Bread and guests- live set mixing video, poetry by Mark Gwynne Jones. Featuring New York's most renowned underground cartoonist Seth Tobocman performing a multi-media slideshow on subjects like September 11th and the anti-globalisation. Movement with music from Cybec Blood.
