It coincides with the first day of an International Public Hearing on the assassination of 7 members of the Colombian National Food Industry Workers Union (SINALTRAINAL) at Coca Cola’s bottling plants in Colombia. The hearing is in Atlanta, Georgia where Coke has its HQ.
The Colombia Solidarity Campaign is intending to bring a union speaker to Britain in September. To set up a meeting for him contact the campaign at  colombia_sc@hotmail.com.
This is one of the actions planned; if people want to do other stuff on the day then your only limit is your imagination.
Also there is a meeting in Conway Hall Red Lion Square, Holborn, London this Wednesday 24 July at 7.30 pm with two Colombian oil industry trade unionists, organised by War on Want. One of them,Gilberto Torres, was kidnapped by paramilitaries earlier this year when working on the OCENSA pipeline which transports BP's oil. This triggered a national strike.
As part of their visit they are also addressing a seminar (all welcome) at the Colombian Refugee Association (CORAS), 161 Lambeth Walk, Vauxhall, London on Saturday 27 July from 11am to 5pm.
