Genoa solidarity message from Genoa Justice Campaign

English survivors of the Diaz raid send our solidarity greetings to the family of Carlo Giuliani on the first anniversary of his murder by the police.

We, the Genoa Justice Campaign, send our solidarity greetings to the family of Carlo Giuliani on the first anniversary of his murder by the police. As English survivors of the Diaz raid we salute all our friends in Italy who are continuing the struggle against the murder, torture and brutality committed by the authorities. We demand that all those responsible, police and politicians, are held to account for their actions. Like you, friends, we are still sad, and we are still angry. We will continue to fight for justice as part of the global movement against capitalism, because we have a better world in our hearts. No Justice, No Peace!

Apologies

I didn't know Carlo but I was there when he was killed and will, at some point, testify to what happened that day if the case against the security forces goes through. This decision is in the hands of the public prosecuter at the moment, who has clearly chosen not to announce his verdict until after the anniversary of Carlo's death, presumably with a view to minimising the outrage that should rightly ensue when he declares that the findings of state forensics/ballistics are genuine. These, simply, are that the round that went through Carlo's left eye from a few feet away was actually fired upwards into the air, in warning, and that the round unfortunately collided with a stone that was also travelling through the air, having been thrown by another demonstrator. The round ricocheted down, the rest is as we know. I apologise to Carlo's family that I can't be in Genoa for the day, or even on the demonstration in England, as I'm in Palestine right now, but I urge everyone who can to mark the occasion, and when the verdict is announced, to make enough noise to raise the fucking dead.
