Second asylum attempt at Melbourne British Consulate!

Two child asylum-seekers who escaped from the Woomera detention centre have sought asylum FROM Australia - at the British Consulate in Melbourne.
Two children aged 12 and 13, who escaped from the Woomera detention centre at Easter, have sought asylum at the British Consulate in Melbourne
The two children were escorted into the consul-general's office at 90 Collins Street, Melbourne, by their lawyer Eric Vardarlis.
The childrens' father has been in Australia for 18 months on a Temporary Protection Visa. He was informed that his children are safe inside the consulate today by a member of the Woomera Refugee Embassy, and is said to be delighted and relieved.
When I went to the consulate at 2pm today there were a few police cars in evidence, and the rear of the lobby was packed with journalists and TV crews. It seems that no access to the upper floors (where the consulate is situated) is being granted yet. There was no update on the story.
The Refugee Action Collective will be meeting for an action outside the consulate at 5pm today.

The "second" in the title is a reference to the childrens' first attempt to seek asylum in Australia, which resulted in their incarceration at Woomera.
Apologies for any confusion.

It is understood the two boys are from Afghanistan, let us not forget who forced them to flee from their country of birth.
Stop the war in Afganistan - don't start in Iraq... and there will be an end to all crises!
