HUNGER STRIKE CONTINUES !!

09.07.2002 17:11

The hunger strike outside Australia House in London is already in it's second day, and it will continue with another sleepout tonight and then a gathering of 50 to 70 social activists there from 5pm to 9pm on Wednesday. We want to raise awareness that all the detainees at Woomera are on their 16th consecutive day of hunger strike and some have vowed to strike to the death! We must rally together. Already, there have been two TV crews on the scene today along with two radio stations that have responded because of the commitment of a few individuals on a hunger strike. With more people, they will take greater interest, until the embassy would be forced to contact the Australian government and urge it to soften it's inhumane treatment of innocent refugees fleeing political instability. We must make a stand for those who do not have a leg to stand on. Your voics must be heard, for those without a voice! Come, join us Wednesday 5pm to 9pm, and bring a blanket if you want to sleep out. Freedom is more important than life itself. A life of fear and oppression is a life wasted. These refugees'lives are being wasted, and if you are too afraid to make a stand, then yours too might be wasting away!
