Torie leader IDS says of the cannabis experiment in Brixton: "Ultimately, this issue is about whether the forces of law and order control an area or whether it is controlled by other forces." Proposal: The "other forces" give him a nice reception when he comes round.

OK, the guy has probably never been to Brixton before. He has likely never spoken to a single resident of SW9. He doesn't know what cannabis is or what the difference is to other drugs. But he still has the gall to take his travelling circus down to South London today to promote his ignorant ideology. Maybe local residents should speak their mind and receive him with a peaceful smoke-in?

I live in Brixton at the sharp end and I know that the message sent out to Black kids is , you don't count, get high and drop out. It's alright for you white Middle Class liberals, isn't it?

...and it should be alright for everyone, regardless of their colour or cultural background. What are you suggesting? The experiment should have taken place in a Bedfordshire commuter village, "cos the white kids know how to handle what the black kids don't"? You miss the main point about cannabis legalisation: that cannabis isn't the problem when things go wrong - it's the social circumstances. Put your efforts into improving them, rather than supporting a regime which sends thousands of people to jail for smoking a pretty harmless substance.
