Updated website focusing on Bayer Cropscience whose crops are being grown on over 85% of GM field trials planted in the UK in 2002

Bye Bye Aventis Hello Bayer

On the 4th June 2002 Bayer AG, the massive German-based chemicals and pharmaceuticals manufacturer, completed their purchase of GM crop company Aventis CropScience. Bayer's new subsidiary, named Bayer CropScience, is now leading the push for the commercialisation of GM crops in the UK and Europe. In the UK Bayer's crops are being grown on over 85% of GM field trials planted in 2002.

Stopping Bayer is key to stopping GM commercialisation in Europe.

www.bayerhazard.com brings you the low down on Bayer; who they are, and what they are up to, as well as action reports and downloadable campaigning resources

New Biotech Industry In Siena, (Italy)

08.07.2002 12:48

A brand ne Biotech industry is born in Siena,
under the name of Siena Biotech and founded by the oldest bank in the world, Banca dei monte di paschi di siena.
to of the participants in this brand new start from sctratch
industry are BAYER and CHIRON. Both already have massive plants just out side Siena. Bayer has been involved in a series of battles with local environmentalists.
In the monthly magazine info magazine "Provincia Informa"
the plans to develope a brand new biotech industry are confirmed.
This is even more surprising as on wednesday, the OCSE /OECD
meeting kicks off under the title "siena a model for rural" developement, so presumably for ideal rural developement
a Biotech Industry is the order of the day ?

Local environmentalists have organised a contro Seminar
NOCSE where the serious problems caused by cowboystyle industrial developementt in the area will be discussed.
