DURBAN: Everyone is out today with the exception of some workers from essential services. 14 000 members are reported to be marching! They have just left Curries Fountain and are going to march to the City Hall. The union is highly excited that many IMATU members turned out for the march! No city police members could be seen on major roads in Durban. No single traffic cop in West Street this morning which is usually a busy street with a heavy traffic officers presence. For comment call the Provincial Secretary Richard Hlophe on 082 4154941.

CAPE TOWN: There is a general meeting of about 4500 Cape Metro workers going on in the Good Hope Centre. Earlier, angry workers blocked off the intersection of the busy Oswald Pirow and Darling streets.
