solidarity protest for Argentina

forwarded from Argentina Solidarity Campaign:

The ASC, with collaboration of a member of Globalise Resistance, has
organised a protest against the IMF Managing Director Horst Koehler's visit
to Gordon Brown on 4th July.
Date: 4th July 2002
Place: Entrance to the tube station Westminster (District & Circle lines) on
Bridge Street, directly opposite the Big Ben
Time: 9.30 a.m. - 11.30 a.m.

We decided upon this place & time, because the meeting is going to take
place in the Port
Cullis House at 10 a.m., which is the new building right above Westminster
tube station.
We are going to be distributing leaflets informing people about the IMF's
new moves,
and demanding the cancellation of the debt. There will also be banners with
slogans
against the IMF and others with protests against Argentinean police
repression, which left
2 people dead & 100 injured in a demonstration in Buenos Aires last
Wednesday.
There might be some artistic features as well.

Good news is that we might get press coverage by the BBC Latin America. We
contacted
an Argentinean journalist working for this section of the BBC, who is very
interested in
the event. Today, I'm working on the Press Release.

Despite the short time notice ( and considering that we only got the
information about
Koehler/Brown meeting last week), I really hope you can make an effort and
come to
joint us. Bring your saucepans and pots with you.
