Nursery meeting

St.John's nursery parents | 29.06.2002 13:55

The St.John's parents/trade union meeting on Wednesday agreed that we wanted to call together a campaign committee of all the children's services in the Borough.

We can no longer go on fighting these campaigns in isolation, neither can our kids tolerate any more cuts.

So I have fixed up a meeting (provisionally) for Tuesday 16th July, 6.30pm (to finish by 8pm at the latest) at Hackney Town Hall. A creche will be provided.
Hackney UNISON is helping to host and organise the meeting.

The intention is that this will not be a rally or a debate, but a working meeting to form a 'council of war' (!) on behalf of our children. It will be open to everyone, but we hope that its core will be a delegate from each children's service - better still, a delegate from the parents and a delegate from the workers/volunteers (and, in the case of services for older children eg. youth clubs, a delegate from the young people themselves).

I will be putting together an invitation soon, to send out to all kids' groups in Hackney. There will also be a draft statement of what we are trying to do.
In the meantime, please (a) put this date in your diary; and (b) send me contact details of any groups you think should be included.

In solildarity
