Bloody repression in Argentina

habanera | 27.06.2002 13:17

Is this the start of a repression previously seen during the generals dictatorship in Argentina?

Yesterday afternoon, 26th of June, the Buenos Aires police violently repressed a march organised by the unemployed's union. The police attack resulted in the murder of Dario Santillan 21 yrs, and Maximiliano Costeki 25. Another 90 people have been wounded, 4 of them are in a critical condition. The police insist that only tear gas and rubber bullets were used to disperse the demonstrators whilst reports from Hospital Fiorito of Avellaneda insist that live ammunition was used.
