Unison members across London are to strike on the 12th 13th June over their claim for a £4000 across the board London Weighting

Unison Members across London will be striking on the 12th and 13th June over the claim for an across the board £4000 London Weighting...this is the second strike over this issue, and it is hoped will shut Town Halls, Schools etc. Public Sector workers in London get paid a London Weighting to boost their pay because of the high cost of living in London. The Police get £6000, Teachers £4000, while council workers get about £2500. Across the board payments are better cos they favour lower paid workers.
The cost of living in London has soared in recent years, most council workers can't afford to live by where they work, to live where they are from, if they move from home or seperate...The Key Workers issue ignores council workers ...the people who clean the streets, empty the bins, the home helps etc don't count as key Workers! In reality it needs more than just a few thousend on the pay packet but unions like to take it slowly!!!...the mood amongst many council workers themselves, especially those who haven't got on the housing ladder and don't have one of the impossible to get council flats is getting militant on this...we have been shafted for too long!
If u come across a picket line please offer your support...most council workers while glad to get a day away from the manager don't like to strike because of the effect on the public...sometimes we need u to tell us we are usefull and we do deserve to earn a living london wage!
