Hereford Anarchists

New Group

Anarchists in Hereford have been getting organised of late, and have recently established a local group - Hereford Anarchists.
There has already been quite a bit of interest in libertarian ideas despite the conservative nature of this rural county.
As of yet nothing much has been planned beyond distributing literature i.e. a mass leafleting, extensive fly posting and a possible newsletter.

Was in Hereford the other day and well impressed by the number of anti-capitalist stickers/flyposters. Looks like you've been busy :-)

Fascinating

As i recall the place (late 1970s and early 80s) it was reactionary and anachronistic, with only the vaguest glimmers of other things happening in the world beyond the muddy fields. Not even a Socialist Worker group (perhaps no bad thing !) But anarchism ? That was usually the preserve of students returning from the cities with tales of strange civilizations and dragons...
you may recall that the Bishop of hereford catherdral got "The Life of Brian" banned, giving you some idea of the thinking there.
