The Pink Castle occupation is ending. Aventis appear to have written off the trial and the farmer is keen to turn the non GM side into a commerical crop.
The Pink Castle occupation is ending.
We've spoke to the farmers nephew who indicates that the trial has been written off and that they now simply want to continue with the non-GM side as a commercial maize crop.
If you've been wanting to visit the field then you'd better do it soon. The time has come to pack-up the castle and say goodbye to the field.
On June 15th-16th there'll be a 'tat down' weekend at the castle.
We're going to need plenty of assistance, people power and vehicles - so please do come down.
It took over two dozen people a whole night to carry the castle to the field and assemble it - and that was all down hill. We'll need all the help we can get, plus 4x4 vehicles and trailers to get the tat back to the road.
There's loads to do: dismantling the castle, digging up the lock-ons in the field, taking down the mono-poles, packing up the ridge tents and bell tent, tating down the kitchen etc. Everything needs to be carried up to the road and taken elsewhere.
To celebrate everyones hard work, there'll be a party on the saturday evening with accoustic music, a blazing fire and free food for all who have helped out along the way.
Bring what you hope to find.
