As you know, Mick O’Reilly, has at long last been actually sacked. He has now appealed it within the T and G.


In early May some 5O ATGWU representatives, shop stewards and activists met to begin a campaign within the union for Mick’s re-instatement.


This body also wishes there to be a campaign within the wider movement of supporters from across all the other unions. They have requested me to convene people with a view to organising a public meeting in the city. I have arranged an organising meeting of supporters for Wednesday 12th June at 8.00 pm. in the Teachers Club, Parnell Square, Dublin. This can discuss a general campaign as well as a single public meeting.


Michael himself, and some ATGWU supporters, will attend.


All trade unionists are welcome, and I invite you to attend on the 12th.


Another interesting development is that the Dublin Council of Trade Unions, at its May meeting, passed a Motion proposed by the executive, opposing the dismissal and supporting their appeal for re-instatement. A letter from the General Officers of SIPTU asked all SIPTU delegates to the DCTU to support the Motion.
