Here Come the Double Deckers!
On 4th June about 40 people were arrested. Most were enjoying a quiet drink in a pub after a small Movement Against the Monarchy demonstration. The arrests were “to prevent a breach of the peace” seemingly to prevent any further demonstrations. Most of the 40 were herded onto two double decker buses and driven around for an hour and a half before being taken to 8 police stations and lacked in the cells.
This seemed to be a new tactic by the cops. As well as publicising this we need to consider taking action against the cops. LDMG is happy to co-ordinate this, but we don’t know everyone who was arrested. Please email us your details. We will organise a meeting for those arrested shortly, so we can decide what to do next. Please forward this e-mail.

The organising of this event was crap!

06.06.2002 08:48

This event was extremley badly organised and the meet up time was way to early at 10:30am. It should have been at 11:30am that time would have been about right. Also this event should have been advertiused on every community website buletin board in the UK at least two weeks in advance. It was only given a brief mention on the urban75 website forum a few days before it happened. There should have been a thread about this event started on every community website forum!!!!Also tens of thousands of flyers advertising this event should have been distributed about it in the weeks leading up to it!!!

Hopefully people will take up such ideas for the next similar type of action in London!
