Dog called Jasper rescued from canal by teenagers

Some teenagers saved a dog called Jasper from drowning in the Huddersfield canal at Mossley near Oldham.

They saw a man throw the dog into the canal and got him out of the water. Apparently he had been injured, but they took him to the RSPCA and now Jasper has been reunited with his owner.

It's sick the way some people treat animals though these days. Do any of you out there have any ideas to cut down on this sort of pointless cruelty?

last week i saw a cat (not mine) in the garden playing with a bird, not killing it, but letting it hop and then catching it. i couldnt just watch it, so i scared away the cat and took the bird. its wing was injured, but otherwise it seemed ok. i made a nest for it. didnt know what it ate so i left muesli and raisins. left it and by the evening it was gone. if i was an optimist i would say that, rested, it flew away to safety. realisticly, the cat probably ate it. i just drew out its pain and suffering from a few minutes to several hours. was i doing a good, bad, stupid or amoral thing? dont know.
