NF to mobilise in Leicester. Anti-fascist rally called.

Urgent action vs NF mobilisation, Leicester, Saturday 1st June

On Saturday 18th May, the National Front held a paper sale/leafletting
session on Gallowtree Gate, Leicester. In response to this, a succesful
anti-fascist rally was called for the following Saturday (25th May).

The NF did not attempt a repeat of the previous week's activity although
seven of them were spotted in a city centre pub. The various
groups/individuals who were part of the anti-fascist rally remained at the
Clock Tower until it was clear that the NF would not attempt any kind of
action.

However, we have serious information that this Saturday (1st June) the
NF will again be attempting a sale/leafletting excercise. If this is true
they will undoubtedly mobilise from a wider area in to get greater
numbers out. In order to counter this, another anti-fascist gathering is
being organised from 11:30am at the Clock Tower, Leicester City Centre with
all community members and anti-racism groups being asked to attend.

It is possible that the NF will not appear on Saturday, however we must
mobilise ourselves to actively show them that they are not welcomed by the
people of Leicester and that we will not accept them in our community.

Peace is the key

If your going to have that attitude you are just as bad as they are. If you really want to prevent fascism then you have to show that your ideas and conduct can be respected. Peaceful activism is a thousand times more effective than violence.

It was Hitler himself who said that the only thing that would have stopped them, was if they'd been smashed off the streets in the very beginning.

I've never encountered a fascist who was interested in reasoned discussion. The whole basis of fascism (in whatever form) is that might makes right.

Fascism is a bourgois invention, and the middle class is its natural constituancy. However, they need their working class foot soldiers to do the dirty work. So the way groups like the NF and BNP attract 'hard' working class elements is by declaring that they are the 'hardest' gang in town (see, it's a sort of poor man's 'master race' line).

So what better way to demoralise these idiots than to batter them off the streets? Well, they won't be discussed off the streets will they?

And to say that the violence of those who resist fascism makes us as bad as the fascists, is not really very helpful. Fine, you may not like what some class fighters are prepared to do to defend their brothers and sisters, but please do not denounce us in this way. Pacifism is a luxury we cannot afford.
