Your invitation to the LARC open day this Saturday 18th May!

Various LARC'ers | 15.05.2002 15:00

Roll up! Roll up this Saturday afternoon! It's the once in a lifetime...

London Action Resource Centre (LARC) open day!

You'll believe that it can take almost three years to get an 'ARC' together, as you -
* join us for a celebratory walk round the building;
* marvel at the bunting;
* listen (at about 8pm) to the stirring sounds of radical protest singer David Rovics, all the way from the US of A;
* take part in our radical (?!) table-tennis competition from 5-6pm. (Rumours that the balls will be decorated with the faces of G8 leaders are awaiting confirmation...)
* partake of tea, cake, food and other refreshing delights;
* sign up your name to become part of one of the many small groups being set up to help run the building, from the roof garden to banner-making to - for the stout of heart - fundraising;
* take inspiration from the day and the space to dream up wondrous, creative schemes and scams to change the world for the better with your mates;
* lots of other mad stuff that we're still thinking up...

Time: Saturday 18th May (after the Justice for Palestine demo), from 4.30-10pm.
Admission: absolutely free, (though we might hit you for a donation when David Rovic plays.)
NB. Kids only with carers please.

What is LARC by the way? Well, it's a collectively-run building providing space and resources, including: offices, computer and internet facilities, roof garden, banner-making space and meeting rooms. It's for people and groups working on self-organised, non-hierarchical projects for radical social change, since you asked.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS:

May 25th: ‘womenzone, our time of the month’, a women-only space from midday till 10pm, featuring massage (from 1pm onwards), a discussion on ‘The politics of erotic labour’ at 1pm, self-defence between 3.30 and 6.30pm and a Speaker’s Corner. In the daytime there’ll be ongoing roof gardening, a free shop, internet access, newspapers, tea, coffee & socialising. And there’ll also be food and films in the evening.

June 14th or 15th at 6.30pm: Rising Tide climate justice info and benefit caff night. ‘Funds raised will go towards the new Rising Tide-type action/education group we would really like to see spring out of this event. (But feel free to come along if you simply want to find out about grassroots action to save the climate.)’
Details:  shells@gn.apc.org and www.risingtide.org.uk

Regular events:
Free yoga sessions every Tuesday evening from 5.30-7pm, for people of all abilities.

That's it. See you on Saturday...

Love and bunting,
