Pie-ers of Dutch rightwing leader Pim Fortuyn arrested in relation to his murder.

This morning three people were arrested for pie-ing Dutch rightwing leader Pim Fortuyn on March 14. The arrests follow accusations of the List Pim Fortuyn that the murder of their front man last week is related to the pie-ing incident.

The three are charged with committing an act of public violence. According to the Minister of Justice a prosecution team of 55 has been put on the case, which will investigate whether the three have links with the suspected murderer of Fortuyn already in custody.

That it took the Ministry of Justice this long to make the arrests suggests that the action is an attempt to suss the mounting accusations of Fortuyn supporters. But of course it also further criminalises the work of the radical left, that has already been under heavy public attack since the murder.

Now the lawyers are at it

Laywers for Pim Fortuyn have launched legal complaints against a variety of newspapers, activists and politicians who said things publicly before Fortuyn's death that he didn't like. This ranges from "Stop the Dutch Haider" to telling jokes about him to quoting from the Diary of Anne Frank (a Jewish girl murdered by the Nazis - they took this as implying that Fortuyn was a Nazi).
