URGENT: SQUATTERS UNDER ATTACK

ResistancExistance | 12.05.2002 10:14

Squatters in North London have occupied abandoned army barracks. Bailiffs came and tried to evict them but failed. Bailiffs WILL be back. Solidarity needed urgently.

Help is urgently needed. At around 1:30am last night, bailiffs attempted to illegally evict squatters in north London. This squat (an abandoned army barracks with over 100 hundred empty living spaces) is to be the be the begining of a wider ranging community based project(s).
The illegal eviction was stopped by the phoning of the police(the bailiffs threatened violence and had not obtained the proper documents for eviction), but the balifs are soon to return.
There are only two people there holding the fort and they desperatly need help in mainting this place to bring about the full realisation of the idea, as put by one of them:

"I would like to make a space where young people with bright ideas can meet others and have the resources to start and complete projects. I would like to set up a dance workshop and even facilities for people even apply for college courses, the idea is basically to have a community centre."

"We are calling on any like minded people to come and join us, we need the support, the idea is safety in numbers. Anarchists, squatters and anyone willing to stand with us on the frontline to secure a place for this vision please come, urgently, we have no way of knowing when
they'll back."

The phone numbers of the two people (Chris and Ian) are as follows:
07751-219-330 - Chris

07762-806-467 - Ian

The address is:
60 Ross Avenue,
Inlges Barracks,
Mill Hill,
NW7 1PH
