Premier Oil AGM

Today in central London the Premier Oil AGM was confronted by a loud and passionate protest by supporters of the Burmese democratic movement. Among these was Ko Aung, a refugee from the regime who was imprisoned and tortured by the regime after the student uprising in 1988. A close friend of Aung San Suu Kyi, the elected leader of Burma, recently released from house arrest, Ko Aung attended the meeting as a shareholder to explain to the board why continuing to work with the Burmese regime was simply perpetuating the human rights abuses that saw him tortured and his friends killed.
