Fatcat-lover Toady Blair and his flunkeys give corp media more opportunity to speak with one totalitarian voice
No wonder our media speaks with one voice when most of it is owned by one or two monster corporations. With today's announcement that the "Labour Party" is to remove most of the few remaining barriers to monopolies and mergers in our media, it will get much worse. Murdoch will probably own Channel 5.
Consumer magazines are already in the hands of a few giants:
Natmags (publishers of Cosmopolitan, Company, Good Housekeeping, She; recently took over Gruner & Jahr - publishers of Best, Prima etc) is owned by the Hearst Corporation.
Time-Life/AOL recently took over IPC (owner of biggest selling women's mags, like Woman and Women's Own, plus numerous other consumer mags ).
Nearly all the rest are owned by German company Bauer.
Could someone remind me what "Labour Party" stands for?
