Police stuff Welsh Green Gathering

Chief Inspector M Jones of Neath Port Talbot Police station wrote to Neath Port Talbot Council telling them that Wiltshire Police had written to him that The Green Gathering itself was a source of violent Crime and that the Police did not think that the Welsh Green Gathering had laid on adequate security measures.

Neath Council, affeared of riot and damage, cancelled the booking.

It was ever thus... but

In the 1970s, following the example of Led Zeppelin, a few hippy communities were set up in Wales. They were always being prodded by the authorities, both police and local councils together with unsympathetic farmers. Perhaps it was because they were predominantly English, or because of the cannabis and the otherwise unconventionality or just perhaps because rural wales was a bit anachronistic;
I dont know, but it looks like the pattern is repeating itself, except now its with the sinister new buzzwords of "crime & violence", something of which the hippies of old were rarely accused. Perhaps we can expect a squad of Israeli tanks to lay siege to the central teepee ...
