THE LONDON MARCH - SEPTEMBER 22ND 2002
SOME OF THE ANSWERS
1 Why March on a Sunday when London is always empty?
Transport: The number of coaches we require would not be available on a weekday as a large proportion of them are used for school runs. Trains are not so easily chartered on a weekday. Every coach park in London is filled by us, and in some places (where people waited for an hour or two last time) the entire underground network is used by us. Added to this, the volume of traffic entering London on a weekday alone would result in most people not making it beyond the M25.
Public Opinion: This is not France, nor are we fighting a populist cause like the Poll Tax or against fuel prices. We are a minority and as such need the support of the public and the media in all we do. We have striven for credibility and tolerance for many years and 'bringing London to a standstill' may make us all feel better, but would undo all that we have achieved so far. If anarchic behaviour inconveniences those who have no interest in our fight, prevents them from getting to work etc. we will alienate the very public, and the media, from whom we need support, not only for the right to hunt, but against bigotry and prejudice.
Public Order Act: The Metropolitan Police will not grant permission for a March on a weekday. Buses would simply be redirected away from central London.
Numbers: We are hoping more people than ever will come on the March on 22nd September. For this to be achieved, everyone must have the opportunity. For the March to be held on a Sunday gives EVERYONE, especially those with full and demanding jobs, and children at School, the opportunity to attend. The important thing is the strength and determination we show to the Government - the last March was a success because it WAS on a Sunday.
2. Why was Sept 22nd chosen when it clashes with a number of important shows?
Some clashes were always inevitable and this date was chosen after very careful research into the political timetable and, in practice, proved the only practical date.
3. Why are we waiting until September? Why can't we march sooner?
the countryside fights back

Al
What shall we do about the CA?

The danger of the CA is that they claim to speak for the rural dispossesed and are succeeding in being the voice of rural Britain. They were set up to save Hunting and all they care about is hunting and their own private estates.
I think it is vitally important that not just animal-rights activists, but also anti-capitalists and land rights campaigners unite to attack the CA. Unfortunately i don't have the answers, but we need to think a bit further than just calling them "cunts".
I would recommend everyone concerned with hunting and land rights to read "The Rich at Play - the history of foxhunting and land ownership in Britain, including the politics and people behind the Countryside Alliance". published by RPM. SEE: http://www.red-star-research.org.uk/rpmframe.html
