ANL: oppose BNP at local election counts

internationalist | 02.05.2002 13:31

The Nazi BNP will be sending their (few) activists out to local election counts/declarations tonight in the areas where they're standing, in hopes of getting on telly.

The ANL is asking all anti-racists and anti-fascists in these areas to turn up and show that the BNP do not represent the majority anywhere. Full details on website:

ANAL bring terror to streets of Oldham

The fascists of the misnamed "Anti-Nazi League" have been busy trying to disrupt the democratic activities of the British National Party in Oldham today, this being May 1st, the day that the self-proclaimed upholders of the working man take to the streets. The fact that most ANL members are social workers, students and those "resting between jobs" one wonders what they have in common with the "working man". However they were busy today trying to create havoc in the mill town of Oldham. At one point one of their vehicles bedecked with red balloons tried to run over Oldham candidate Roy Godwin, who is standing in the St.James ward where we are getting tremendously encouraging canvassing returns.

The ANAL will not dare share a platform with our officials to discuss in democratic tradition the issues effecting the people of Oldham and elsewhere because their arguments cannot stand up to our scrutiny. Moreover the wealthy backers of the ANAL are not British people, have no love for the British people and have an ulterior motive in stopping the voice of the BNP from being heard.

Whatever their shameful tactics they cannot silence our voice. We have been heard and will continue to be heard in greater numbers and to greater effect. The British people will decide tomorrow in those 68 wards where we are standing who represents their future.
