Forwarded for anyone interested:

NOT LONG TIL MAYDAY!

The descent of the world into insanity took a sharp dive in France at the weekend, making the idea of resistance and providing answers to the world situation even more important. The political world is polarising at present, we can see the anti-capitalist movement growing in strength and support - witness Washington DC last weekend where 100,000 marched in the biggest anti-war / anti-capitalist protest there yet, along with Barcelona, Rome and the tremendous reaction to Le Pen's vote across France.

All this makes MAYDAY in the UK far more important.

On the Globalise Resistance / Trade Union demonstration there will be a plethora of different campaigns and activists marching.

There will be protesters from all over the world, people taking a stand against privatisation, the War on 'Terrorism', the rise of Le Pen and the far right across Europe, attacks on union and workers rights, attacks on human and civil rights, casualisation at work and infact many other issues which (more than likely) you'd agree with!

Transport is coming from a number of places in the UK - Colchester, Brighton, Norwich, Southend, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Sheffield and Oxford. If you want a contact number or details of the transport, give the GR office a ring on 020 8980 3005.

Activists from Peace and Anti-War groups are coming, as are Palestinian groups, Asylum Seekers Groups, a theatre group or two are coming to entertain you all, People from overseas parties and campaigns based in London along with all the familiar faces!

On our website there are leaflets you can download, there will follow shortly an e-mail designed to forward on to your lists and to friends and family.

AN APPEAL
We are making flags and banners for the protest, but the best we can do is enough for about 100-200 people. PLEASE, if you have the time (it won't cost you much) make your own banner, flag, placard or whatever. This is going to be a big, eclectic demo, and he best way of showing that is through a variety of different props on the protest. Go on, do your best and make the march MORE colourful, MORE diverse and MORE enjoyable!

Just to re-emphasise, this demo is a legal demo. We are not expecting any trouble on the march. It should encourage everyone who's been agreeing with our campaigns who perhaps have been hesitant in the past to come along and join in.

If you are unhappy with the way the world is going, if you want to see an end to death and destruction, to exploitation, to privatisation and corporate power... See you on the streets on May Day!

There are plenty of other activities going on durig MayDay: Critical mass cyclists and other non-motorised vehicle users are hitting the streets again, gatherings take place in various parts of London and elsewhere, MayDay is our day have a happy time whereever you fnd yourself. Check www.ourmayday.org for more details.

MAYDAY IN LONDON

THIS YEAR YOU MUST BE DIVERSE, COLORFUL, YOU MUST ENJOY YOURSELF, OR AT LEAST PRETEND.

IT'S ALWAYS THOSE BLOODY ANARCHISTS AND AUTONOMISTS
WHO GET ALL THE PUBLICITY.

YOU MUST STOP LOOKING SO SAD! BE COOL!

BUT DON'T FORGET WHAT YOU ARE THERE FOR:
"RECRUIT AND SELL THE PAPER!"

JOHN - SWP/GR

so you wont try to join up w/ the big boyz?

Just asking, seems to be a rumour various unionists want to link up the marches, as was wanted last year.

Mayday is international workers day after all, as well as representing much else for all sorts of people.

Let them do their march, at least they're talking to the unions.

Not everyone has elevated themselves to an all knowing state of political awareness you know.

wake up and just do it
