Statement by British International from inside PA compound 26/04/02
The telephone rang, and another call from the British International inside the PA compound who has been suppling the information for these reports.
As we spoke there was a demonstration outside the PA compound of around three to four hundred people including forty or fifty internationals.
They were being shot at with rifle fire and sound bombs.
The group of internationals inside the compound went outside to offer support and were hit with seven sound bombs, which left then cut and bruised, nothing serious.
The Israeli army are still smashing up cars outside the compoud and piling them on top of yesterdays' barracade, which must be enormous.
They have had a delivery of some food, about twenty four hours worth which they plan to eke out, they say they are no longer starving .
As we were speaking the telephone kept cutting out, and I was advised that when this happened just to hang up and await a call back.
The first time this happened, n the backgound there was some comotion, and the BI
(British International) said " Oh no she's not dead is she!?"
The phone cut out at this point.
I was called straight back, I asked about the injured then the line went dead once more and so far I have not been called back.
