Demo against Reeds Employment Agency

People Not Profit | 24.04.2002 15:51

About 20 people held a protest outside Reeds Employment in Liverpool in solidarity with the the Simon Jones Campaign.

The protest took place between 1pm and 3pm causing a major disturbance to Reeds - Cops came quickly and Reeds security were forced to lock the doors. At one point the cops said Reeds management wanted to talk with a couple of the protesters - we complied. Reeds were forced to listen to both the Simon Jones story and the many complaints we hear and those involbved in PNP have told us. They denied ever forcing people against their will into low-paid jobs, saying that they were not like other agencies. Anyway it was actually a waste of time talking to them, they tried to convince us with individual success stories. But our aim to disrupt and expose their activities for the time of our protest went well.

A SMALL BUT SIGNIFICANT GROUP IN LEEDS TOOK ACTION AGAINST REEDS AND ADDECCO. REEDS WERE OBVIOUSLY EXPECTING US AND HAD SHUT UP SHOP FOR THE DAY SO WE PLASTERED THE FRONT OF THEIR BUILDING WITH POSTERS. PRETTY GOOD RESPONSE FROM THE PUBLIC THOUGH.

Good work-that employment agency guy with his drivel about "individual success stories" sounds just like a Yankee wonker-Uncle Corporate Sam probably owns most of those places.
