Hi,

If any of you people could get this translated and forwarded in a different
language, that would be really helpful.

Thanks.

PROTEST THE POLICIES OF ARIEL SHARON....

JOIN A GLOBAL PROTEST TO "OCCUPY" ISRAELI CYBERSPACE

An appeal for participation in a global, online 'virtual sit-in'.
** All you need to take part outlined below **

You needn't watch the news of events in the West Bank passively -
you can do something today!

"Arial sharon is Taking the Peace" is an online protest action being run by
the electrohippie collective. If you would like to go to the main action
page, see the details at the foot of this email. But all you need to take
action, now, is contained in this email.

Better still, for this action to work it will takes thousands of people
across the globe working together - in the process proving that there is a
large proportion of the population in many states who consider Ariel Sharon's
recent actions against the Palestinian people repugnant.

THE TOOL - 'ClogScript'

the electrohippie collective have developed a new online action tool called
'ClogScript'. The tool is a Java program It's not a fully executable program,
like a normal computer program. It's a 'pseudocode' program that needs a Java
interpreter to run it. If you use Windows 98 or Windows ME, or if you use
Linux, it's likely that you have a Java interpreter installed.

ClogScript works like an overdriven web broswer - it makes continual requests
to the main Israeli government web portal - www.index.gov.il - and in the
process draws more power from the system. If enough people take part in the
global action simultaneously, the Israeli government's premier web server
will shut down - until they reboot it at least. this will not cause any real
damage. It is not, in terms of the 'computer abuse' legislation of western
states, illegal. But it will be a symbolic "occupation" by concerned citizens
across the globe of the Israeli government's cyberspace.

ClogScript has been designed to work with Windows machines. But Linux users,
or Mac users with a Java interpeter installed, can also use it (Linux users
see instructions at foot of page).

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THIS:
To be effective a s many people as possible must use the tool simultaneously.
Therefore we're asking people to use the tool as often as possible - daily if
you can, between the following times (all times in Greenwich Mean Time - GMT
- adjust to take account of your local time):

* 08.00 to 12.00GMT

* 18.00 to 23.00GMT

OBTAINING THE TOOL

To use ClogScript, you must first download the Java code file. On most
graphical email programs if you press shift, and click on the link below, you
should start to download the file. If this doesn't work, the address of the
ClogScript page is also included below.

For simplicity, save the file in the root directory of one of your hard
drives under the name -
ClogScript.class
- for example C:\ClogScript.class (it is important you use the capital
letters correctly).

To download the file press shift and click on the link below:
 http://www.fraw.org.uk/ehippies/peace/ClogScript.class

If this doesn't worh you can download the file from the electrohippies
website:  http://www.fraw.org.uk/ehippies/peace/peace_clogscript.html

If you have a virus gatekeeper installed it might throw an exception to this
file. That's because it's a Java pseudo code file. But it is not a virus, and
running it should do no damage to your system.

RUNNING THE TOOL

To run ClogScript in Windows, follow these steps.

1. Establish an Internet connection as you normally would (those with network
connections that are permanently connected need not worry about this).

2. Click the Windows 'Start' button, and then click the 'Run' option.

3. The 'Run' dialog box pops up. In the box marked 'Open:' type:
JVIEW C:\ClogScript
This assumes that you've put ClogScript into you C:\ directory.
If not, enter the dirve letter/directory name(s) that describe where
the ClogScript file is on your hard disk.

4. When you click 'OK' a MSDOS window pops up, and the ClogScript program
will start running. The number of connections to the Israeli government's web
server is given in the 'Results:' line, after 'HTTP'.

5. Leave the ClogScript running for as long as you can.

To close ClogScript, just close the MSDOS window. Windows might ask you if
you are sure you want to do this because the program is still running - but
just click yes and it will close.

ClogScript makes around 1 connection per second to the Israeli government's
web system. If the action begins to have effect, this will slow slightly. If
the action begins to have real impact, you will notice that the 'Failure'
counter will begin to slowly increase - this is because the server has been
unable to accept your connections. If the Israeli government's server goes
down, the 'Failure' counter will clock over very quickly (although losing
your own Internet connection has the same effect).

NOTE - if ClogScript encounters more then 2,500 connection failures, it will
close itself down (this is so it doesn't lock up your own local connection if
there is no need to). If you want to carry on the action, just restart it
again.

LINUX USERS

Linux users just have to download the ClogScript file - as outlined above -
to their home directory. Then open your connection to the Internet. Open a
terminal box (or from the command line, if you don't use a GUI) enter:
java ClogScript

To stop ClogScript just press and hold the 'Ctrl' (control) key and then
press the 'C' key.

Most importantly - forward this email to your friends/to email lists, and
increase the potential that we can collectively invade the Israeli
government's cyberspace.
