GREENPEACE Won't Help Us by Belgian activists
(originally)Fred De Baere | 22.04.2002 06:59
Here's another example of how Greenpeace ignores grassroots activism. They only do spectacular stunts designed to get onto prime time News channels. This helps with their fund raising but does nothing to solve environmental problems.
They certainly don't support grass roots actiivism.
The Flemish Green minister of Environment Vera Dua took not into account the negative advice of the Flemish Health Administration.
The health of our children is not a priority anymore for our green minister.

SOS SOS SOS ! Dear anti waste-incinerator friends, would you please help us.

The Flemish Green minister of Environment Vera Dua took not into account the negative advice of the Flemish Health Administration.
The health of our children is not a priority anymore for our green minister.
Flemish Green minister of Environment Vera Dua (also responsible for the INDAVER firm), reject now our formal and legal objection against the building of a
fluidised bed furnace waste incinerator for a capacity of 466.000 ton/year. However the Flemish health administration has given a negative advice for building this
waste incinerator.
On the 23 august 2001, our government was given the environmental license to operate a new INDAVER's waste incinerator for a capacity of 466.000 ton/year.
The location is at Beveren, in Flanders, Belgium, near the border of the the Netherlands. Our government has a 54,2% participation in INDAVER. In October we
submitted a report to the minister Vera Dua, in accordance with the Flemish Environment low. Now the minister rejected our objections against the construction of
the waste incinerator.
Unfortunate, till now, we got not any support from Greenpeace Belgium for this fight.
PLEASE, would you all be so kind, to bid GREENPEACE BELGIUM to fight against the
new incinerator and to go in appeal!
IT'S NOT TO LATE NOW!
WE HAVE 60 days to go in appeal by the supreme administrative court of Belgium.

Thank you all for your support!
At the INDAVER site in Beveren SLECO (50-50 participation of INDAVER and WATCO (SITA)) plans the construction of an installation for the co incineration of
industrial waste and biosludge or similar waste. It concerns the installation at Beveren of an incinerator plant of 466 000 tons/year - 143 MW. This plant will have
2 or 3 incinerator lines with a thermal capacity of 48 or 72 MW each, based on the lower heating value, and a throughput of 21 or 31.5 tons/hour .
The waste is for 50 % sludge from municipal sewage water purification and for 50 % from high calorific residue of selected and sorted industrial waste. The
technology will be based on a fluidized bed furnace with steam boiler, for maximum
energy recovery, and an advanced flue gas treatment to meet the current emission regulations

When it comes to PR, marketing ,sales propaganda, corporate logo/branding included they are as good as any corporate multi national.
It’s a fact Greenpeace is right in there with the best of them, huge brightly coloured posters depicting Greenpeace Eco Warriors heroicly taking on giant tankers in puny rubber boats, the folks back home love it. Always on a big scale , at least national TV.
But just like the UN,when it comes to the crunch they are totally useless
Sure they greenpeace laboritories knock out some very usefull /valid reports.
They did a very good one on the perils of Inceneration, but greenpeace does not have a campaign against Incenerators, or didn’t , maybe they do now.
But however well prepared the Greenpeace’s reports and other research is, they are of similar value to UN resolutions, on israel for example. Like ZERO
The "greenpeace sector" (of the market) is very the respectable , goodie goodie family image , radical chic, whatever. They are the acceptable side of environmental actvism.
They don’t get classed as terrorists like the rest of us, wonder why ?
But they make a point of not getting involved locally, all their campaigns are long distance, world wide. Thats the point as they don’t get involved with grass roots activists at a local level they are not a political threat and are therefore allowed to get on with running what is basic a very lucrative business with an environmental front.
Besides the token democracy needs , token radicals and token environmentalists .
Environmental groups like greenpeace and WWF have to exist they are part of the decision making process. Someone has to sit on the other side of the table to the political sharks and the corporate crime syndicates:
The WWF was set up by two old nazis, Phil the greek and his touch mate, at the time in the early 60’s he was still shooting tigers. Yeah great street creds !!!
Greenpeace has plenty of half leaked scandals they are probably controlled by the intelligence services, which makes sense as they are the official “Environmentalists” .
There are loads of local environmental groups , all fighting their own little battles against corrupt local councils and corporate crime, who are busy bosching incenerators and toxic chemical plants in to residential areas. if these groups could be united on one front they would be come a powerfull force to be reckoned with. But any of them that have contacted greenpeace, will have found that greenpeace is too busy saving whales and staging sales propaganda stunts, to get involved in real environmental actvism at a grass roots level. While they are saving whales in some far away place ,
who is saving Us , our children ?
Greenpeace occupy the place , that should be occupied by an effective environmental group.

Well THAT seems to represent a job for SOCIAL progressives. It's a human health issue and as long as the problem is defined in those terms, a job for those people whose primary concern is human health -- like those organized to fight this or that disease. Oh yes it's true, I'm sure that incinerator would also be bad for all the rest of the environment. But that doesn't appear to be YOUR concern. I rather suspect that what you have here is not GreenPeace being unconcerned about the incinerator but unwillingness to be cooperative with your focus.

The UK is going for it in a big way. It serves to get rid of all the useless crap that our masters create.
The disposal of refuse is in the hands of organized crime, like talking italian mafia and simla.
The highly toxic fly ash from inceneratores in the UK found it's into building blocks used to build houses(UK).
The whole business is a scam, with big risks, for local residents, and mega profits for cowboy operators and local authorities, never mind the Social Service, how about some Social Justice ???..
These operations are normally run way out side the permitted limits, but that very minor complication is covered up the so called environmental protection agencies.
Local groups are left alone to fight against local government, corporations and an army of lawyers who get paid big bucks to get a result ..
If local Committees don't get help they very often lose out.
