Behind Sharon Massacre

Why the Massacre?

The undisputed fact of the massacre in Jenin hides behind it some
issues which need to be addressed. Imperialism seeks obviously to
crush all resistance to its domination and is seeking to keep the
Palestinians in a bantustan like existence for as long as is feasible.
The possibility exists that US imperialism has set up Sharon to knock
him down over the coming months. By attacking the brutality of the
Jenin massacre (Kaufman made some noise so did the UN envoy) the
Palestinians made be faced with a fait accompli:

Sharon forever or agreement to cessation of hostilities in return for
Israeli domination of a small 'independent' Palestine with no right
of return of the refugees. The Arafat leadership schooled in the art
of bourgeois nationalism and compromise agreed to the State of Israel
and now may be agreeing behind the backs of the Palestinian masses
for no right of return of the refugees (around 5 million). Alongside
Sharon, Arafat presided over the butchery of his own people, by not
preparing their arming against Sharons assassins.

If Bush is seen to be 'confronting' the mad dog Sharon he will then
gain 'international stature' to prosecute his war aims of the total
colonisation of the Arab world by extending his war against Iraq. Why
else would a Blairite in the form of Kaufmann attack Israel if
something isn't on the cards. Labourism is pro-American to the core
not because of some evil takeover of the Labour Party but primarily
because of the social conditions of British society. We belong
wholehaertedly to the multinationals, no significant section of
British business is independent anymore and the changing material
conditions lead to a changing political climate.

Whatever Bush does, millions of Arabs are on the streets in support
of the Palestinians and it is difficult to sustain the Zionist entity
with the force of arms alone. The events in Europe in the 1930's are
too distant to be used as a permanent justification for Zionism which
is essentially and to its core anti-jewish and endangers jews
worldwide.

"Zionism is the product of the imperialist epoch. The Jewish tragedy
of the 20th century is a direct result of the decline of capitalism"
Abraam Leon
