Israel and the Oil question

One question puzzles me, and I want to throw this open for some answers. How [if at all] does Israel co-incide with the wider matter of Middle-east oil ?

Ive just been reading a book on the political economy of oil. It doesnt really matter which, for there are lots but, tellingly, they make no mention of Israel at all, except in passim. On the other side of the shelf, I have a book on Israel; again, lots, but equally, they make almost no mention of the oil supply.
Odd isnt it, for a region so steeped in the stuff; odd too, that Israel seems to have no ostensible oil fields ? Can that really be, or has some outside factor prevented them from developing reserves ?
We need to look at the ongoing nightmare in the context of oil; we need to synthesise the two critiques if possible. as I said, I cant give any answers apart from a few sketchy deductions, but I cant imagine the USA gives so much money to Israel for sincere belief in 'zionism'.

There is certainly a 'link' here. Its quite obvious when you think about it, but its a bit of an open secret.
Most text- book cases of abject oppression are in fact at root, economic; to take two examples, Apartheid in South Africa, and slavery in the USA. The glaringly obvious fact that in both cases people were enslaved for purposes of extracting financial profit was often lost in the moralistic outcry; yes, certainly, there IS a moral cause and yes, the bosses did get a lot of amusement from the power they weilded, but their disgraceful behaviour always had an economic motive.
And its the same in Israel. What the USA has to gain from Israel is a compliant literal "Police -State", a limited democracy within its own borders (but then so was South Africa and the USA !) but one which will "police" the entire region, through economic and military clout. What the Zionists have to gain is a homeland theyve been after for centuries, but precisely on the condition they support the USA. Occasionally the two demands contradict each other which is why Sharon seems to be defying the USA right now.
