marx said every strike was a political act, so what were the politics of this strike ? looks a bit lacklustre to me, although of course im glad theyll get a bit extra cash.

Re-Distribution of wealth

It was a political act, the politics being that the workers believed that they deserved a larger share of the wealth that their labour created. This they got!

By I cant remember.

Its a small victory but it may inspire others to strike, making more small victories and eventualy to the overthrow of capitalism and the ushering in of an age of Utopia (well we can hope :-) )

havent you ever heard of 'grab-sharing' ? its a term much used in the usa for strikers who 'take the money' and allow rhemselves to become a privileged 'labor aristocracy', without considering their fellow workers in other parts of the workforce.
im not accusing the people here of doing that, but always watch out for grab-sharing. its what brought down the revolt in paris in 1968, and especially in britain, where social attitudes revolve around notions of privilege, there may not be much resistance to it...

Why not nip up to Sunderland and tell them to give the pay rise back?
