Infiltrated policemen during demonstrations in Brazil (photo by Latuff)

Two agents in plainclothes during a demonstration of students in downtown Rio de Janeiro. One of them, with a videocamera, reveals under his shirt the barrel of a Taurus pistol. Such surveillance from "secret" agents is almost a standard procedure in our so-called "democracy".

police intelligence (oxymoron, i know)

as well, if they catch you catching them (on film), they like to confiscate evidence (tapes).

i'm in $eattle and i and a media (IMC in fact--though this person was working for a local broadcast affiliate at the time of the event) person were stopped and there was a big stink made about his video evidence. as well, he was pointing out undercover pigs and i would just stare at a guy trying his best to "act natural" (while on a cell phone..wonder who he was talking to?).

his tape was confiscated and the promise of its return was made (yeah right).

if you're taping, think about swapping out often and passing off to someone with you u trust.

have a chat

You can always pretend that you haven't
outed them as undercover and treat them
as ordinary friendly protestors. That
is, go have a chat to them (bring your
friends) and ask them about their politics,
background and where they are coming from,
why they are here, what books they have
read, where's a good place for lunch,
what's happened in their lives that made
them want to come and protest?
They're probably too stupid to come up
with any lies and have to leave because
they are no longer functioning undercover.
