Simon Jones on mark Thomas

Simon Jones Campaign | 10.04.2002 02:15

The Mark Thomas Product (Channel 4, 11pm, Wednesday 10th April) will be about corporate killing and promises to be a must see - get your video set! Chris and Anne, Simon's parents, attempt to speak to the minister responsible for health and safety who immediately agrees to talk freely and frankly to them about all their concerns (only joking obviously - see the programme to find out what really happens).

A number of protests have already been organised for our national day of action against casualisation on Wednesday 24th April, the fourth anniversary of Simon's death:

In BRIGHTON people will be meeting at noon outside the offices of Personnel Selection in West Street. This is the office that sent Simon to his death four years ago. Simon's family will be attending this event.

In OXFORD people will be meeting at noon at Carfax Tower.

In LIVERPOOL people will be meeting at 1pm at Lime Street Station to target a well known rip off agency. Bring your own ideas and creativity, bring banners, drums, whistles, placards, deck chairs, footballs, frisbies. This is part of a local carnival against casualisation organised by People not Profit. More details at  http://www.peoplenotprofit.co.uk/carnival.htm

In BRISTOL the Bristol against Casualisation Campaign will be taking part in an action against an employment agency in the Bristol area - more details nearer the time from  bristolacc@hotmail.com

There are also plans (so far) for protests and actions in BIRMINGHAM, LEEDS, LEICESTER, LONDON and MANCHESTER. More details to follow.

If you are interested in going along to or organising a protest, action, event, party or whatever on the day of action contact  simonjonesaprilaction@hotmail.com and let us know about it. We can send packs of leaflets, stickers and balloons for you to hand out.

So - keep checking the website at www.simonjones.org.uk , don't forget to watch the Mark Thomas Product this Wednesday night (as if you would) and we'll see you out and about on the streets on 24th April!
